KAYAK: Beginner Mouth (of the Creek) Wide Open

  • Registering as a Kayak Paddler. Make sure you've been assessed for the skill level of this trip before registering.
  • Only select this if you have been assessed as a NBCB Kayak Trip Assistant.

Beginner Kayak Trip - Creekmouth Wide Open

The key thing is to get on the water.  The skills will come naturally as your (genetically-driven!) will to survive kicks in.  So, relax.  We're going to launch in and paddle around the beautiful juncture of the Newtown Creek and the East River and get you ready for longer trips. 
  • Skill level: Beginner (see what this means here)
  • Meet: 6:30pm sharp at Queens Landing Boathouse and Environmental Center, directions are here.
  • Return & Release: 8:30pm

  • What to wear and bring

Dress to get wet, and remember to bring water and a snack.   Please no jeans or other heavy cotton clothing.

Our beginner trips usually have a very active wait list - last minute cancellations or "no shows" could impact your ability to register for future trips.
