Exploring the Ecology & Creatures of Newtown Creek

Join us for a fun and educational kayak adventure on Newtown Creek!

Discover the creek’s rich environmental history and vibrant ecosystem as you paddle through its waters. We’ll use plankton nets to gather live microscopic and small specimens, which we’ll later examine up close in our boathouse classroom—both with the naked eye and under a microscope.

After our exploration, we’ll carefully return all specimens to their natural habitat.

This is the first environmental education kayak trip of 2024, offering a fantastic opportunity to deepen your understanding of the area’s ecology, history, and wildlife.

This trip is open to **Advanced Beginners and Intermediate paddlers. (**You must have completed at least 2 kayak trips with NBCB and can handle yourself confidently in a kayak) This will not be a skills class.
