Intro to Advanced:
Escape from Rikers

• As the weather starts to change, this is a great time to think about leveling up.  Being advanced + passing our Winter Paddler class enables you to appreciate our NYC waterways year round.  Which means you'll be ready to go next spring to help our community boathouse fulfill its mission!
  

  We'll head up to the Brothers, passing close to Rikers before we high tail it out of there "splitting the Brothers" as the captains say.  We'll discuss the hazards, make radio calls, and offer an advanced assessment (see here), to anyone who is ready.
  

  Prerequisites: At least 3 intermediate trips.  Ability to paddle for 4+ hours.  Reach out if you have questions!

Dress to get wet, and remember to bring water and a snack.   Please no jeans or other heavy cotton clothing.
