Registering as a Kayak Paddler. Make sure you've been assessed for the skill level of this trip before registering.

KAYAK Beginner to Bushwick Inlet

With the season coming to an end, this trip is for beginner paddlers looking for an opportunity to get a bit more practice, and if they're ready, be assessed as an intermediate paddler.

To become an intermediate paddler, you need the following skills:

Set up your own boat & gear including spray skirt, paddle and foot pegs
Get in and out of the kayak unassisted
Demonstrate a wet exit in the water
Understand skegs and rudders
Perform forward and reverse strokes, turns, and a stop in three strokes
Draw and rudder strokes
Paddle at a moderate pace for at least 60 minutes without a break

We'll paddle to Bushwick Inlet, work on some skills, and those interested can perform a wet exit.

Paddle to Bushwick inlet and practice skills/wet exits/assessments

3/3:30pm: Paddle back to QL

3:30/4pm: Clean up and Release
