NBCB Presents: Learn Skeg Repair
With Ted Johnson
What the heck is a skeg?
A kayak skeg is a retractable fin or blade that extends from the hull of a kayak, typically near the stern, to help keep the kayak stable and on course.
They are useful in challenging conditions like choppy water or strong wind.
You may have noticed a hand control on the side of the cockpit, that's used to drop or retract the blade.
And guess what?
THEY BREAK A LOT!
NBCB is often faced with repairing or replacing skegs, and our resident kayak repair specialist, Ted Johnson, is the one who gets the job done.
Join Ted on Sunday Sept 22nd at 3pm, for an info session and demonstration on how to replace a skeg. He'll explain the mechanism, parts of a skeg kit, and demonstrate a couple repairs. Participants can get some hands-on experience.
RSVP via the calendar would be appreciated.
