Trip Planning for Kayaks and Canoes on the East River

Whether you're a new member, a trip assistant, or looking to refresh your knowledge,  join us at Queens Landing Boathouse and Environmental Center for Trip Planning Theory and Practice for Kayaks and Canoes.

The East River is a tidal strait with fast and  dangerous currents.....if you don't know how and when to handle them.

Part 1:  We'll learn about tides and tidal currents with a special focus on those in our area. Discuss how moon phases and even the weather can affect currents. Use the 50-90 rule, to understand various charts, apps, and lingo.

Part 2:  We'll  Divide into teams and plan trips, and troubleshoot different locations and conditions. I'll try to stump you with difficult dates & times.

Bring food and drink if you like.
