KAYAK: Beginners trip to the mouth of Newtown Creek

  • Registering as a Kayak Paddler. Make sure you've been assessed for the skill level of this trip before registering.
  • Only select this if you have been assessed as a NBCB Kayak Trip Assistant.

You are going to learn the basics of our club and kayaking. How to select the kayak, gear and forward stroke. Then we paddle to the mouth of the Newtown Creek to see the sunset and take photos. If you think that you can advance to intermediate, come and show us some skills, wet exits, and kayak control.

  • Skill level: Beginners (see what this means here)
  • Meet at 5:30 PM
  • Launch at 6:30 PM
  • Slack at 3:52 PM and flood begins 
  • Return around 7:45 PM at sunset

  • What to wear and bring

Dress to get wet, and remember to bring water and a snack.   Please no cotton clothing.
