Microscopic World of Bushwick Inlet Join us for a unique adventure combining kayaking and science!
We’ll take a short paddle into Bushwick Inlet, where we’ll use plankton nets to collect water samples. Back at the boathouse classroom, we’ll examine what we’ve found—first with the naked eye, then under the microscope—to discover the hidden world of Bushwick Inlet.
Past trips have revealed an amazing variety of zooplankton, including baby crabs, worms, and even tiny comb jellies. Who knows what we’ll find this time?
Important details:
This is not a paddle instruction session. Participants must be able to paddle for at least 20 minutes, stop, turn, and handle their kayak confidently.
Beginners must have completed at least two kayak trips and have a recommendation from their instructor.
Non-volunteers will be placed on a waitlist until we have enough help.
