KAYAK [Advanced] Winter Paddle: Governor's Island Circ

  • Registering as a Kayak Paddler. Make sure you've been assessed for the skill level of this trip before registering.
  • Only select this if you have been assessed as a NBCB Kayak Trip Assistant.

Governor's Island Circ
[Advanced]

  • We're paddling around Governor's Island, or as the Lenape called it, Paggank due to the prevalence of chestnut trees.  We'll break at Valentino Park before riding the flood back home through the Buttermilk Channel.  This is not a rough water trip, there won't be any play off Castle Williams.


  • Prerequisites: Winter Certification & Advanced paddler


  • Skill level: Winter Certified + Advanced (see what this means here)
  • Meet: 10:00am at Queens Landing in LIC
  • Launch 10:30pm
  • Slack to Flood is 12:30pm at BB
  • Return & Release: 2:30pm

  • What to wear and bring
  • Drysuits are required. Also bring water, snacks and sun protection.

If you borrow a club suit, please let the TL know about any damage or problems you find, like a tear in a gasket or a broken zipper. Thank you!
