Multi-Modal Roosevelt Winter Paddle Mix-Up

  • Skill level: Winter Certified & Intermediate or Advanced (see what this means here)
  • Meet: 9am at Queens Landing
  • Launch: 9:45am
  • Slack to Ebb @ E 90th Street: 11:01am
  • Return: 12:15pm
  • Release: 12:30pm
  • Trip leaders: Erin St Peter (TL in training)  erinjstpeter@gmail.com & Matt mdundas@gmail.com
  • What to wear and bring
  • Drysuits are required. Also bring water, snacks and sun protection.

We will take a fleet of canoes AND kayaks to paddle with the currents to the north end of Roosevelt to arrive at slack, and then come back with the currents. We may stop at Hallet's for a brief pit stop, depending on timing.

Please note that we will depart from Queens Landing and not from our typical canoe launch site. We will take the two canoes stored at Queens landing and aim to fill at least 4 canoe seats to run both boats. If you are vessel agnostic (open to canoeing or kayaking), please indicate this in your registration. We will be trying to manage the availability of club drysuits as registrations come in. Please joint the waitlist or email us if you want to join but a particular ticket type is full.

Please note that this trip is restricted to intermediate/advanced canoe and kayak paddlers who are registered as Winter Paddlers with NBCB and who have completed the Winter Paddling training.  Although the air temperatures will be balmy, please be sure to dress for cold water temperatures.

If you borrow a club drysuit, please let the TL know about any damage or problems you find, like a tear in a gasket or a broken zipper. Thank you!
