Our Public Paddle series let us fulfill our mission: enabling safe, responsible, access to our waterways, and educating residents to be stewards of the history, ecology and sustainability of the waterways of Newtown Creek and the adjacent East River.
At these free, family-friendly paddles, NBCB welcomes walk-up participants to join trained canoe guides for short trips on Newtown creek in our 29-foot voyageur canoes. We’ll paddle out toward the East River and take in views of Manhattan before paddling deeper into the creek, a very rewarding experience!
We are looking for volunteers to help with the paddle! We welcome folks to sign up for volunteer shifts that include:
Food will be provided for lunch.
The event is open to the public from 12-4pm. Our volunteer shifts run from 11:15am -1:45pm and 1:45pm - 4:30pm
If you are interested, please register and select the shift that works best so we can plan accordingly! You may sign up for multiple shifts. Volunteers are welcome to take part in the event and join a canoe trip.
Please note: Inclement weather date is Sunday July 26. It would be helpful if you are available both dates.
