Kayak Beginner: Get your Feet Wet

New to Kayaking? This trip is intended for anyone who’s new to kayaking or NBCB.

You will learn how to choose and get fitted for a kayak, paddle, and life vest. We'll go through some on-land instruction, covering the basics and answering any questions before launching. You'll learn what goes into setting up before a trip and putting everything away afterward. Then, we’ll head out in our deck boats (no sprayskirts) and paddle together around the mouth of the creek.

This is a great, low-pressure setting to practice your paddling skills, build confidence, and enjoy being out on the water. Come meet fellow paddlers, learn something new, and get a feel for what NBCB is all about!

If you are interested in joining, please add yourself to the wait-list. You will be contacted if there's room on the trip.

  • Skill level: Beginner (see what this means here)
  • Meet: 5:15PM sharp at Queens Landing in LIC, directions are here.
