This trip is for paddlers who want to be assessed sterning a tandem canoe.
This trip is is intended only for paddlers who know/can execute standard canoe stern strokes (J stroke, pry, sweeps, draws) and who have sterned canoes before but who have not yet been assessed as official stern paddlers with NBCB.
Paddlers will have the opportunity to demonstrate boat control with experienced bow-paddlers in a paddle toward Hallet's cove. If we don't make it to Hallet's in time for slack, we will just turn back early. The point of this trip is more about demonstrating strong stern paddle skills on the East River than about the destination!
This is a wait-list managed trip. Please join the wait-list and we will confirm if you have a place at least one day prior to the trip. We will give priority to people who were registered to be assessed for last week's cancelled stern assessment paddle.
Remember to dress for the conditions, bring something warm, water and a snack.
