The Keeper is a moving portrait of Hudson River steward John Lipscomb, who has spent 25 years patrolling “America’s first river” in his wooden boat. Over more than 80,000 miles, Lipscomb has fought industrial waste, sewage, and neglect—becoming both watchdog and poet laureate of the Hudson. Through breathtaking imagery and intimate reflection, the film celebrates a life dedicated to ecological justice while capturing the poignant moment he prepares to pass the torch to a new generation.
Following the screening there will be a Q&A with director/producer Jon Bowermaster, producer Carolyn Marks Blackwood, and the film’s protagonist John Lipscomb.
